Pulse News Reader Android Apps and Games

Pulse News Reader Android Apps

Pulse is an elegant news reading application for iPhone, iPad and Android devices (where it doesn’t have any real competitors yet).

It incorporates colorful panning story bars and fills them with content from your favorite sources. Pulse redefines news, giving you the opportunity to experience the news you desire from traditional sources, your favorite blogs and social networks — all in one beautiful, simple interface.

The inspiration for Pulse came out of frustration at the news reading experience on mobile devices. Two friends developed and introduced Pulse in ten weeks for a course at Stanford University. After launch, Pulse became the best-selling application in the App Store.

But it really hit the headlines back in June 2010 when none other than Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, featured the application in his keynote to the Apple Developer’s Conference in San Francisco. Recently, Pulse News Reader has been featured in Apple’s App store Hall of Fame. And now developers have made the application a free download on all available platforms.

So, what do we got here? Great app, tested by millions of people and proved itself worthy. It has incredibly awesome interface, changing experience of common RSS reading to something really different.

But, of course, nothing is perfect, and it has two things many users would like to change. First is a one-way connection to Google reader: Pulse only gets feeds from there, but never sends back info about reading them. So if you have been reading some articles on your phone, you will just have to manually mark them as read later. Second thing is internal web browser, which I definitely hate. Why force users to work with it, when there are a lot better browsers available, including default one?

ShopSavvy Barcode Scanner Android Apps and Games

This is probably the best barcode scanner not only on Android, but on iPhone as well.

I just love this app, seriously. It is certainly a must for every owner of any modern mobile device, especially the Android ones, because it provides the easiest way of getting new apps and games directly from review websites like feedandroid.com — by scanning a QR-code linked to market address.

But the primary function of this app is even better. Using ShopSavvy you can scan almost every barcode and get not only the info and image of an object it belongs to, but the list of web and local prices, including best (lowest) ones. So you can go the store, pick something, scan its barcode, check if this item’s price here is fair and if not and then just proceed to the nearest place where you can buy it for less money.

Among with brilliant design and great touchscreen interface, these are the main advantages of the ShopSavvy Barcode Scanner. But nothing is perfect in this world, so it doesn’t work flawlessly all the time. It may show you old prices or scan barcode incorrectly and bring up irrelevant product, though this cases are very rare. What I would like to see as an improvement is the quality of images it gets from internet, because often they are very low-res and look bad on our huge HD screens. And possibility of moving data to SD card would be nice as well.
